Eric Marcos is a sixth grade mathematics teacher at Lincoln Middle School in Santa Monica, CA. Eric integrates purposeful-technology with a “kids teaching kids” model. For over seven years, Eric’s students have been using screencasting software to create math video lessons, which are used in classroom instruction, for the class podcast and shared with freely with a global audience. He created the Web site Mathtrain.com, where students actively collaborate on-line and the video site Mathtrain.TV. The site was featured on EuroNews to over 150 countries and in 11 languages and mentioned in Alan November’s, “Who Owns the Learning?” book. In addition, Eric recently created the site StudentCreated.TV to host and feature student tutorials for all school subjects.
